If you were to ask any of the Founding Fathers that in the future, a day would have to be set aside to reassert our Religious Freedom, they would either scoff at the necessity of it or come to the conclusion that our Republic had failed. Yet today, January 16 2020, President Trump has declared National Freedom of Religion Day! Why is that needed? What has transpired to cause this proclamation? What evil has arisen to threaten our once cherished freedom? How did we come to neglect such a precious gift? Is it apathy? Is it negligence? Maybe we have become too free, (at least in our minds). It has been too easy for most. We have become unaware of the dangers, always lurking, that strive to tear us down.

    The Founders believed that this freedom was so vital that they listed it FIRST!  The following are direct statements as to the importance of religion (christianity) as stated by the Founders.
John Adams, "It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand."
      " We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. . . . Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. "

Fisher Ames Framer of the First Amendment

   "Our liberty depends on our education, our laws, and habits. . . it is founded on morals and religion, whose authority reigns in the heart,

and on the influence all these produce on public opinion before that opinion governs rulers "

Benjamin Rush. Signer of the Declaration of Independence

       "The only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without

virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments."

George Washington

  "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would

that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of man and citizens."

  I could present hundreds more on this topic but hopefully the idea comes across with these. Only by trusting God's Word in our hearts and in the nation, will the blessings of liberty be accomplished. Our predecessors knew this Truth. When they used the term "religion" it only applied to Christianity. However, we have been taught, and our children are being taught, that we are a secular country. That Christianity is a curse instead of a blessing. It is man, himself, that will save us. Through socialism, secular progressivism, humanism, and other assorted "isms" our country will flourish in the "New World Order" while Christianity will be relegated to the ash heap of history. What many today have forgotten is a statement by James Madison who pronounced, in Federalist No. 51, “What is government itself but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.” Our Framers knew that man is sinful and will remain in that state until the return and restoration of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the removal of our religious freedom and Christianity from public life will only lead to America's utter and complete disaster.
          For those of you who are believers but feel that you should not be involved in the election process (politics), I have a question for you. Is your ability to witness freely important? Is your ability to read your Bible in public important? Is it important that your Church teachers and Pastor be able to freely proclaim God's Truth? Is it important that your children not be indoctrinated by secular progressive lies? Should you or your business have to succumb and accept violations of Scripture? If not, then why would you extract yourself from the ability of assuring this will not happen? Those who want to restrict, then remove, your Religious Freedom are adamant about doing just this thing. Then when you wonder, How could this be? Look in the mirror. As John Jay, 1st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court pronounced, 
   "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation,

to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."

  God has blessed us with an abundance of Liberty, but, at the same time, expects us to maintain that precious gift.
